Yes white was the colour of showroom death in my time and I even had a white 520i demo that they covered in stripes and a body kit to give it some showroom appeal. That did work!

The resurrection of white is very obvious nowadays, as it was a 'black swan' for a long time.

A neighbour of mine proudly showed me his gleaming white, new Freelander 2 a while back, telling me that he'd bought a 'Pure' limited edition - virgin white etc. He was partially right but the limit was only the number of people wanting to buy the base-spec car... in white.

I bet the salesman got a bottle of bubly for finally selling a car that had been hanging around for far too long!

I had a new green Audi A6 allroad bitdi on order in 2014. They took a long time making it, and tried to exit the amazing deal with car wow by telling me car was not being made. Would I like my deposit back, no thanks! When production resumed they said that green was now a £2k option! So I went with a dark blue metallic instead. 10 years and 93k later I still have the car and have been looking for a replacement. But they all seem to be spivvy black ones with ugly children windows- urg
